It seems that since Memorial Day, our day to day has been jammed packed. From traveling to summer camps mixed with exercise and beach days, we all have enjoyed our summer so much. I'm not at all ready to begin the school year, but I am feeling the kids craving a bit of structure. I have to be very creative in my approach to suggesting a structured learning activity so I don't meet whiny resistance, and so today we decided to do an art lesson. I usually find all of my art lessons from artprojectsforkids.org since I am very creatively challenged. Anyway, the kids really liked the light house drawing and it was a great way for us to talk about dimension using curved lines, sit together for an extended amount of time, chat about our color preferences and learn a bit about the purposes of light houses. I didn't realize how much I was craving just sitting with my kids. Being on the go is fun, but I'm able to reconnect and enjoy the children when we find ways to be close to each other. I snapped a picture of the final products. Georgy wanted to finish up later so his is not quite done. His focus is in much shorter stints. I love that little guy. True to his nature.
